Accessibility Services Available at The Straz

• American Sign Language (ASL) Interpreted Performances

  The first Thursday of each Broadway show in the Bank of America Broadway at The Straz series is an ASL-interpreted performance.
  
  Requests for American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation for all other performances should go directly through our Ticket Sales Office. Please call (813) 229-7827 at least two weeks prior to your show so we can make every reasonable accommodation to secure a sign language performer for you.

• Assistive-Listening Devices

  The Straz Center has a Wi-Fi based assistive-listening system. Assistive listening devices amplify and clarify sound by cutting down or eliminating ambient noise. The Straz Center uses the Sennheiser MobileConnect app. You can download the app for free to your smartphone prior to attending a show in Morsani Hall, Ferguson Hall or the Jaeb Theater. The app may be used with Apple or Android devices. You are welcome to bring your own headphones. We recommend noise cancelling headphones that plug directly into your device rather than Bluetooth for the best sound experience.
  
  If you do not have a smartphone, tablet or headset, don’t worry; we have some iPods and headsets you can check out at the house manager’s desk. There is no charge to use our devices, but a valid ID is required. Our Morsani Hall, Ferguson Hall and the Jaeb Theater are also T-coil compatible. Since each hearing aid device is different, if you have any questions regarding the compatibility of your device, please contact us at comments@strazcenter.org. Please be aware our system uses the headphone jack on your IOS or Android enabled device. If you need to check out a headset, make sure you bring any adaptors required to plug in headphones. 
  
  When you arrive at the theater, stop at the house manager’s desk in the lobby to get a free guide.

• Audio Description

  The first Saturday matinee of each Broadway show is an audio described performance. You will be able to access the audio description through the Sennheiser MobileConnect app. You can download the app for free to your smartphone prior to attending a show. The app may be used with Apple or Android devices. You are welcome to bring your own headphones. We recommend noise cancelling headphones for the best sound experience. If you do not have a smartphone, tablet or headset, don’t worry; we have some iPods and headsets you can check out at the house manager’s desk. There is no charge to use our devices, but a valid ID is required. When you arrive at the theater, stop at the house manager’s desk in the lobby for assistance.

• Parking

  The Straz Center has a number of dedicated disabled parking spaces in our Arrival Plaza off Tyler Street. Guests with disability placards or license plates can park in these spaces on a first-come, first-served basis. When these spots are full, we are committed to providing additional disabled parking to the best of our ability.

• Restrooms

  Wheelchair-accessible restrooms are located on all levels of Morsani Hall and Ferguson Hall as well as the ground floor of Shimberg Playhouse. Companion restrooms are available in Morsani Hall, Ferguson Hall and TECO Theater. Stalls are available in the Jaeb Theater.

• Seating

  Wheelchair and scooter accessible seating is available throughout all seating levels in Morsani Hall, Ferguson Hall and TECO Theater. Orchestra level accessible seating is available in the Jaeb Theater and Shimberg Playhouse. 
  
  Seating options are available for guests with visual, hearing and mobility disabilities. Look for the designation when ordering online at strazcenter.org, call our Ticket Sales Office directly at (813) 229-7827 or visit us in person. Bariatric seating is also available and can be requested when purchasing tickets by phone or in person. 
  
  Easy wheelchair access is available throughout our campus, including water fountains and ticket counters at appropriate heights as well as theater seating designed for space and ease.

• Sensory Bags

  To further assist our neuro divergent community, we offer sensory bags which contain items such as noise-reducing headphones, fidget toys and strobe-minimizing glasses. If you are interested in borrowing one of these bags, please visit the designated house management desk in any of our theaters.

• Sensory Integration Room

  The Sensory Integration Room is designed to meet the specific needs of the neurodivergent community, including individuals who identify as being on the autism spectrum. The space meets a variety of sensory needs and provides multiple resources to ensure an enjoyable and relaxing theater experience.

• Service Animals

  Service animals are welcome inside the Straz Center building and must remain on a leash or in a harness at all times. If you intend to bring a service animal to a performance, please notify your ticket agent at the time of purchase so that we can identify the most suitable seating location for you.

• Touch Tours

  Available for select events throughout the year, Touch Tours are for members of the community who have a visual impairment or those who might have sensory needs in which case tactile forms of experiencing the theater would increase their overall enjoyment of the show.
