Straz Center’s Opera Tampa presents the highest caliber of grand opera in the region, introducing thousands of people to this glorious art form every year through our mainstage productions and meaningful education and outreach programs.
Opera Tampa is committed to developing talent and offers several programs to give young professionals the opportunity to advance their careers, including the D’Angelo Young Artist Vocal Competition, where singers compete for prizes and a role onstage with Opera Tampa; the Opera Tampa Singers, who serve as the chorus for mainstage performances and as our corps of artists for education and outreach performances; and the Opera Workshop at the Patel Conservatory, which gives high-school students advanced vocal coaching along with performance opportunities.
